Julia Morales just wrapped up her ninth season as a member of the Houston Astros broadcast team on AT&T SportsNet Southwest. You can also catch her on the Astros and Rockets pre and postgame shows. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner for her work on the weekly show Astros Bases Loaded as well as the broadcast. Before moving to Houston, she worked as a sports reporter for Time Warner Cable News, formerly YNN in Austin, covering a wide range of sporting events including the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, and College Baseball World Series.

Prior to joining the Time Warner Cable sports crew, Julia was the weekend sports anchor/reporter for KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas. While in Tyler, she traveled to Arlington to cover her beloved Dallas Cowboys and reported live from high school football games. Julia began her television career at KTEN-TV in Denison, Texas.

A native of Crandall, Texas, Morales spent two years as a “World Famous Kilgore College Rangerette” before graduating from the University of Texas at Austin.  While at UT, Julia was a member of Texas Pom and watched the Horns’ 2005 National Championship season from the sidelines.

  1. ALWAYS fun to watch, intellectual “guns” loaded, informative, concise and competitive in TWEETS and/or in response to TWITTER or while sparring with her live baseball veteran broadcast colleagues on ROOT Sports !!! A HUGE asset to the Astros Broadcast. PS: Did you enjoy the Gatorade shower during the on-field interview with Carlos Correa after the Astros defeated the Orioles on 5/24/2016? Keep ’em coming.

  2. I’m 68, went to the first game in the Astrodome, April 9th, 1965. It’s been 52 years to have a team like we have now. It has been a long time coming, and having someone with your knowledge of the game and your natural, at ease way of adding to the broadcast only makes it that much better. Looking forward to watching you and the Astros power their way to the playoffs this summer. Have a blessed evening and go Astros!

  3. I live in Michigan. Because of MLB.tv’s policies, I can’t watch the Tigers. So I have become an avid Astros’ fan. 🙂 Julia’s comments add to the fun!

  4. Since I live in Savannah GA I only catch the Astros broadcasts when MLB Channel shows it. You do a great job and clearly enjoy it. Keep it up.

  5. Hello Julia,
In the past I normally wouldnt watch much baseball on TV ….I would just go to see the Astros play at minute maid because my husband is a huge fan. BUT I watch atros a lot more on TV just to see what activities you will be engaged in at the ball parks. Keep it up and know that now….. I watch more baseball. Go Stro’s & Go Julia.

    Love your work!

    Much thanks,

  7. I love the energy you bring to every Astros game! I am a retired Librarian, and think you should write a children’s picture book about your amazing JOB!!
    Keep up the great reporting!❤️
